Z3 M coupes have become ultra desirable collector's items in the past few years thanks to their balanced handling and unique shooting-brake looks. We don't think collectors will like this particular car, but we sure do.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

On the outside, this silver Z3 M coupe looks totally stock, right down to the staggered BMW style 40 wheels. It's only when you pop open the clamshell hood when things get interesting.

The owner thought it would be a good idea to swap out the factory 3.2-liter M3 straight-six and drop in a drivetrain from an E39-generation M5. That means a 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 connected to a six-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels a limited-slip differential.

Additional modifications include adjustable coilovers, AP Racing brakes, and a dry-sump oiling system. The owner reportedly had to fabricate custom engine and transmission mounts to get everything secured nicely. We're sure it's a blast to drive.

Find it here on eBay Motors in the UK with an asking price of £32,500.00 (or around $45,600) or best offer. Z3 M prices are going nowhere but up, and we bet this one will garner more attention than any of its peers at the next BMW meet it goes to.
